A meditative film on love, sacrifice, and the unseen witness who carries memory when the world forgets.
Synopsis
നീ വരുമോ (Will You Come?) is a cross-cultural music film in Malayalam and Thai, bringing together artists and landscapes from India and Thailand. Shot across Bangkok, Ayutthaya, and Samut Sakhorn in Thailand, and Kochi in India. In a quiet Bangkok temple, beside two fallen lotus buds, a Buddhist monk kneels in prayer — his eyes holding a memory. Through his eyes, we witness the story of a Thai woman and an Indian journalist — separated by language and culture, yet drawn together by a simple, protective touch. As intolerant forces pull them apart, their resistance is quiet and instinctive. In the end, both are lost. What remains is the monk's remembrance — and an offering of two fallen lotus buds.
Director’s Note
I was drawn to the idea of love between two strangers — separated by language and culture, yet brought together by a simple, protective touch. In an intolerant world, their resistance is quiet, almost invisible. They stand for each other without proclamation, instinctively, in silence. I placed them in the hands of a monk and chose to unfold the story through his near-silent, almost invisible presence. He does not intervene; he witnesses. In his palms, they become two fallen lotus buds — unblossomed, yet pure — held gently in prayer and memory. The monk carries what the world leaves behind.
